Bringing Our School Community Together
Assemblies are an important part of life at Furrowfield School and provide valuable opportunities for students to come together as a community, celebrate success, develop understanding and reflect on important themes that support personal growth and wellbeing. Assemblies are carefully planned to reinforce our ethos of‘Together We Succeed’ and the values of the Furrowfield Way.
Through our assembly programme, students regularly engage with topics that promote kindness, respect, inclusion, emotional wellbeing, safeguarding, British Values and personal development. Assemblies provide opportunities for discussion, reflection and learning, helping students develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to thrive both in school and beyond.
Celebrating Achievement and Progress
At Furrowfield School, recognising success is a key part of our culture. Every Wednesday and Friday, students come together for recognition assemblies where achievements, effort and positive contributions are celebrated. Staff share successes from across the school and present awards, ensuring that students feel valued, motivated and proud of their accomplishments.
Assemblies work alongside initiatives such as Applause on the Doors, tutor recognition and our Shine Awards, helping to build confidence, raise aspirations and reinforce positive attitudes towards learning, attendance, behaviour and personal development.
Supporting Personal Development
Assemblies play an important role in developing students as thoughtful, responsible and informed young people. Through a wide range of themes and guest speakers, students are encouraged to consider different viewpoints, explore important social issues and develop a greater understanding of themselves and the world around them.
Our assembly programme supports key areas of learning including careers education, mental health awareness, anti-bullying, relationships, safeguarding, equality and diversity, and the promotion of British Values. These sessions help students build confidence, resilience, empathy and respect for others.
Reflection, Belonging and Student Voice
Assemblies provide opportunities for students to reflect on their experiences, celebrate shared achievements and strengthen their sense of belonging within the Furrowfield community. They complement Tutor Time, Clubs and Societies, Debate Sessions and Student Council activities, ensuring that student voice remains an important part of school life.
Through meaningful assemblies that celebrate achievement, promote wellbeing and encourage reflection, we help students develop the confidence, character and aspirations needed for future success. At Furrowfield School, assemblies are more than gatherings; they are opportunities to learn together, celebrate together and grow together. Together We Succeed.
