On the 18th June 2026, students from Furrowfield School gathered for a truly memorable and prestigious Prom celebration at the stunning Eslington Manor, Gateshead. The event was held to recognise and celebrate those students who had consistently demonstrated the values of the Furrowfield Way throughout the year by being inquisitive, resilient, reflective, imaginative and able to work collaboratively with others. These important characteristics, inspired by the work of Costa and Kallick's Habits of Mind, sit at the heart of our school's vision and values and represent the qualities that help our students achieve success both now and in the future.Â
The celebrations began with a special welcome reception for parents and carers, providing families with the opportunity to share in this important milestone and celebrate the achievements of their young people. As students arrived at the magnificent grounds of Eslington Manor, they were greeted by staff and family members and enjoyed spending time with friends whilst taking photographs in the beautiful surroundings. A professional photographer was on hand throughout the evening to capture these special moments, ensuring that students and their families had lasting memories of this significant occasion.
Students looked exceptional, arriving beautifully dressed and taking immense pride in the occasion. The atmosphere was one of excitement, achievement and celebration as students reflected on their journeys and the progress they had made throughout the year. Set within the elegant surroundings of Eslington Manor, the evening provided a fitting opportunity to recognise not only academic success but also personal growth, resilience, kindness and determination.
Students and Staff enjoyed a formal three-course meal served within the manor house, creating a sophisticated and memorable dining experience. Throughout the evening, students demonstrated the maturity, confidence and positive relationships that are such a strength of the Furrowfield School community. Following each course of the meal, a series of speeches reflected on the successes, achievements and personal journeys of the students. Staff spoke warmly about the determination, perseverance and character shown by the young people, highlighting the many ways they had embodied the ethos of' Together We Succeed'.
A particular highlight of the evening was the presentation of a range of special awards. These awards celebrated achievement across a number of areas, including resilience, attendance, personal development, positive contribution to school life and the embodiment of the Furrowfield Way values. Students were recognised not only for what they had achieved but for the barriers they had overcome, the progress they had made and the positive impact they had on others. There were many proud and emotional moments as students received their awards to enthusiastic applause from peers, families and staff.
The Prom was far more than a celebratory event; it was an opportunity to acknowledge the hard work, commitment and success of a remarkable group of young people. Against the backdrop of the beautiful grounds of Eslington Manor, students created lasting memories with friends, families and staff while celebrating their achievements and looking forward to the exciting opportunities ahead. The evening perfectly captured the spirit of Furrowfield School, a community where ambition, perseverance, collaboration and kindness are celebrated, and where we continue to demonstrate that, through working in partnership, 'Together We Succeed'.
