Tutors: Supporting Every Student to Succeed
At Furrowfield School, tutors play a central role in supporting every student both academically and personally. Each tutor group is supported by two dedicated tutors, ensuring that students benefit from consistent guidance, positive relationships and a strong sense of belonging throughout their school journey.
Our tutors work closely with students every day, taking time to understand their individual strengths, needs and aspirations. They provide ongoing pastoral support, promote personal development and model the values of the Furrowfield Way, helping students to become imaginative, inquisitive, resilient, reflective and collaborative learners.
Tutors are also responsible for safeguarding, ensuring that every student feels safe, supported and listened to. Through strong partnerships with subject teachers, families and external professionals where appropriate, tutors monitor progress, celebrate achievements and help students overcome barriers to learning.

Tutor Time: Building Relationships, Reflection and Resilience
Tutor Time is an important part of daily life at Furrowfield School and provides valuable opportunities for students to develop personally, socially and academically. Through structured daily sessions, students are encouraged to reflect on their learning, discuss important topics, set goals and build positive relationships with both peers and staff.
These sessions create a calm and supportive environment where students can check in with their tutors, prepare for the day ahead and receive guidance on achieving their personal goals. Tutor Time also supports student voice, wellbeing and emotional development, ensuring that every student feels heard and empowered.
Regular opportunities for reflection help students recognise their progress, celebrate successes and identify next steps in their learning journey. Tutor Time also reinforces key themes from the Furrowfield Way, helping students develop confidence, resilience and a strong sense of belonging within the school community.
