In line with the Department for Education's Governance Handbook, the Governing Body has three core strategic functions:
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction for the school;
- Holding school leaders to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, as well as for the effective and efficient management of staff; and
- Overseeing the school's financial performance, ensuring that resources are managed responsibly and that public funds are used effectively to support the best outcomes for pupils.
The Governing Body works closely with school leaders to provide support, challenge and accountability, helping to ensure the highest standards of education and wellbeing for all pupils.
